To coincide with opening of The Onaway Trust Library, David Lemm, Jamie Johnson and Al White invite you to an exhibition of new works concerned with the study and re-imagining of themes found within the histories and cultures of indigenous peoples.

Rather than didactic illustrations, the outcomes are informed interpretations where new narratives are implied and the viewer invited to explore an archive of enigmatic yet engaging artifacts that reference archaic ritual, arcane practice and point to lost knowledge that is at the limits of reality as we understand it.

It is the sense of an original context and source of implied importance being lost that we wish to translate through printmaking, painting, drawing and sculpture.

For further information please contact David Lemm on 07736 038062 or hello@davidlemm.co.uk

For information about The Onaway Trust and The Onaway Trust Library please contact David Watters, Trust Director – david@onaway.org

LeithLate, Leith’s annual multi-arts event, is proud to present Persevere, an exhibition by Bernie Reid, Liana Moran and Rabiya Choudhry.

Bernie Reid has been a freelance illustrator for a number of years for big-name clients such as Stella McCartney, i-D magazine, Dazed and Confused, Nissan, the Saturday Telegraph, Boxfresh, Volkswagen, German Elle, Habitat and Wallpaper. His personal work explores issues of process and style, and the oscillation between the two manifests a world of monuments and spirits.

Liana Moran was nominated for the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2010 and her current work is primarily focused on collecting an archive of images of machines and objects that have either become obsolete, or which may do in time. Taking form in industrial graveyards, where machines and objects that are perceived to have no further use are laid to rest.

Rabiya Choudry is a painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at The National Technical Library in Prague with the International Bongo Bongo Brigade collective. She creates works that are iconographically complex, deceptively simple ideas that draw together word and image influences from art history, music and pop culture to explore ideas of love, loss and cultural identity.

Exhibition opens on Friday 20th April 6pm-9pm, sponsored by Thistly Cross cider.

Open thereafter 1-5pm each day from 21st – 29th April.

Flier for the event was designed by Daniel Seex, you can view more of his work here thejoyofseex.co.uk

On Thursday 29th March the Old Ambulance Depot & Monday’s Child: a student-run Graphic Design agency, based at Edinburgh College of Art, will be hosting a 1 evening only event called Wanderment
The exhibition will display work on the theme of discovery and hidden places. Members of our agency will exhibit, as well as students and local artists in Scotland, such as Skint Richie.

As well as artwork, we aim to attract guests with a short series of talks – these will be based on the transformation of abandoned places into art spaces for artists and designers.

The exhibition opens at 6pm on Thursday 29th March with the talks taking place at 7pm.

FLOSS collective present ‘INAUGURAL PURSUIT’ an exhibition of work by young artists based in Edinburgh, opening on 23rd March.

As the title suggests this is the first public exhibition for many of the artists contributing. It represents a series of calculated guesses, tentative first steps & ambitious, declaratory gestures.

It is often said that one should begin as one means to proceed. Each piece presented can then be read as a statement of intent, not only of aesthetic and conceptual principals but of varied and distinct operational values. However, one thing is common; a vigorous, agile & thorough investigation of each artist’s chosen subject.

Comprising work from & across multiple disciplines, including (but not limited to) painting, sculpture, photography, video & performance, INAUGURAL PURSUIT opens on Friday 23rd March and runs until the Sunday 25th March.
